I noticed a whining sound coming from the front of the car today, only happened in 5th gear over 50ish. It gets more high pitched as the revs increase and only sounds when the accelerator is pressed. Suspect a gearbox bearing but really don't have a clue.
Any suggestions?? Really hoping it's not goosed.
Whining sound coming from the front
Re: Whining sound coming from the front
Yep sounds like the gearbox bearings and possibly 5th gear are worn. Very common as gearboxes are weak. Time for a rebuild

Re: Whining sound coming from the front
If it goes when the clutch is down, its more thank likely the gearbox as above
