Could all the people who have received the ‘in transit’ notification let us all know when they’ve arrived at the dealer? Mines due to be built next week (11/03) and I’m trying to get an idea of how long I’ll be waiting.
I know it can all depend but so far I’m hearing 6 weeks, 7 weeks and 8 weeks! Here’s hoping for 6 weeks but since I’ve already waited 52 weeks I’m sure an extra 2 won’t kill me!

Time from the factory to your dealing depends on so many things, how long it has to wait to be loaded on to a ship at Port Elizabeth, weather conditions on the trip from PE to Emden in Germany, how quickly they can turn it around and back on to a UK bound ship and then once at the docks in the UK how long it has to wait to be put on a transporter to your dealer.

From my ‘in transit’ notification to an email from the dealer saying it’s arrived at the dealers was just under 7 weeks, and I’ll pick her up on Monday 😎

Today I was suprised with talk my friend have with VW dealer. He said that Polo stop production in Pamplona by week 27 and all polos after that will come from africa  Also he said that GTI with manual is ending production. That would make gti with manual very rare car. Next few months should be very interesting.

It was only finally all RHD Polos that stopped being produced in Spain and moved to SA, the previous version of Polo, ie 6C all 5 door RHD cars except GTI were built in SA, 3 door cars were built in Spain and at times in Germany along with all GTIs - then with this version of Polo all RHD production was moved to SA - so now it sounds like SA is also building LHD Polos for some markets, maybe few if any LHD Polos now being built in Germany now!

"SEAT" Spain car plant is now building SUV and smaller Audi SUV, "VW" Spain is building similar and maybe some Skoda SUV - or maybe both car plants in Spain cover any load that is required.

The 6C GTI was built in Spain, not Germany.
The new T-Cross is being built in Spain now instead of the latest AW Polo.

Depending on demand and free capacity on other lines, typically Golf lines in Germany, some lucky people's 6C GTIs were built in Germany.

Can you link to any proof of that? VIN numbers are an easy way to tell where a car was made. I’ve heard of people saying their 6Cs were made in Germany too which turned out to be wrong when the VIN clearly showed Spain.

Glovis Spring is due in Port Elizabeth tomorrow. Think my car will be getting on there, hopefully that applies to other members on here!

No, and I can’t remember who had a Germany built 6C GTI, I do realise that building RHD/LHD Polo GTI 6C was never meant to be a regular occurance more just a possibility to reflect the flexibility of some of their assembly lines, and keep the mainly Golf lines working at low demand times and maybe at a time that the Spain Polo 6C lines were heavily loaded or being reconfigured close to model change.

Hi all, looks like there's an end in sight for us! An update from me too, Polo GTI+ (with most options ticked) was ordered 30th Jan 2018, status updated to with the factory 28th Feb 2018, few weeks ago was given a build date of w/c 4th Mar 2019 by the dealer, text message (and app notification) this morning that the car is now in transit (skipped the build in progress update), fingers crossed for a delivery in 6-8 weeks without any other issues :D

Great news mate!

Could very well be possible that your car gets on the Glovis Spring tomorrow - https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/de ... S%20SPRING

Been told by my dealer it's due in Emden on the 1st of April. :)
