Polo's everywhere!

Post by GolfDriver »

Currently in Menorca and I've seen many more new Polo's in a few days here as I have since being launched in the UK.

Seems lots of hire car companies have them.

Unfortunately for me my hire car is a really boring Opel Corsa.

Been great to have had a new Polo.

I’ve sighted two, but both were H regs and white, both near my work place, so they might have been the same car. This is over one month since I got mine. Superb car!

Still yet to see one in the flesh, even local dealer didn't have any in stock when I stopped by the other day for a (very) quick look-see. Maybe there is a shortage, bit naughty to advertise and take orders for stuff you can't actually deliver though....

Same when we were in Lisbon in February, new Polo was a hire car regular.

I saw another today, in silver white I think, near Basingstoke. I don’t understand why some dealers can’t get cars whereas down here there are plenty of off the shelf new cars.

I’ve only seen two on the roads in Norfolk; well only one on the road really - a Reflex Silver one. The other was a Deep Black Pearl in the car park at my local pub (local VW dealer courtesy car being used by one of the bar staff).

Saw one today, last nite actually. Was few cars behind, thought the rear lights on it looked a bit strange, and realised it was a new Polo when it was side-on as turned right. Finished in white but no idea what model....

Polo's everywhere!
indeed they are, like with buses none for ages then saw 2 in 1 day. The 1st was a red one (curiously on a 15 plate) parked outside a shop, onviously a brave owner, the 2nd was silver which I happened to follow for a few miles. The silver Polo musta bin faulty though as the indicators didn't work once, if you know what I mean  ....

Maybe VW have decided to stop fitting indicators (like Audi and BMW seem to have done for some time now!) as a cost cutting measure 😀

It was a black day for new Polos around my way today. I saw three; all were deep black pearl.

This 100% ^^. Discussed very same subject with a biker pal today: dunno what is it with drivers of Audis & Beemers but the use of indicators (and mirrors) appears to be beneath them :?:. A poss 'issue' for new Polos owners to be aware of p'raps  ....

Saw another white Polo, same place as before but bit later and it was going the other so maybe some one. Still not seen that many, though since they are kinda on one's mind they do make one look twice: "was that new Polo? It was, it was"....

The problem is that they are very hard to recognise. From the front they look just like a recent Golf. I have to see the rear light cluster to know for sure. When I had a tyre replaced, the mechanic said “is that your Golf”. I don’t think he’d confuse the older Polo.

I don’t see many about, one or two a day at most and I have a 25 mile commute each way. I do see loads of 2017 and 2018 Golfs. So I assume they are not selling so well.
