VW app taking the p**s!

Post by Swanee »

I have a GTi+ on order. Last week the VW tracker told me my car was stage 5, built and in transit...'on average it takes four weeks for this model to reach your retailer' When I emailed my retailer to get details he replied that transit time is 12 weeks! Which means that as I believed the initial delivery estimate and gave them my car to avoided £500 of depreciation, I'm car-less for the summer! Not happy!!

Mine was built in the week of 26 March, went on the boat the next week (so around 2 April, although that was Easter Monday), and arrived in Germany on 1 May. On 3 May it was on a boat to the UK, arriving on 5 May. It’s now come to a halt, but is due at the retailer on Monday.

So I think 12weeks is very pessimistic.

That's a very speedy order. Have you loaded it with kit?

It's a white GTi+ with self parking and anti crash. Tbh, it was a car ordered by my dealer and diverted to me

Oh I see. Was beginning to think you were friends with the chairman of VW.
That'll be two of us at least then driving around Leamington Spa in our new GTI's . ;)
( well when mine finally arrives)

Haha...that's brilliant! I really want mine to arrive soon. Can't believe how long it takes to get the finished cars to dealers!

Very speedy
I ordered mine the 14th of April
No build date
Factory still is processing my order
Factory closed for two months opening back August
Suppose to have my car September
Looking more like January if you ask me
Have been given option to cancel
Nothing comes close to a Polo
Had I known I would have ordered this way back in January

But is yours a GTi? Can't be as they're built in SA and transit alone is 12 weeks. Hope you enjoy your new car 🙂

From what I understand, SA > UK via DE transit time is ~5-6 Weeks. I'm not sure why your dealer is saying 12 weeks. :?

No its an SEL but still build in South Africa. 5-6 weeks to uk port, 8 weeks overall (including build week) to collection will do it. its not 3 months transit its 2. good thing about it taking 8 weeks though is the paint will be hard when the car gets on the road. These new water based paints take ages to harden off properly. :D
