You probably have a wait of 40+ weeks, unless things improve - so it’s likely to be on a 19 reg. plate.

So is this the plant that’s closed until August?

Apparently so! People are a little frustrated by it all...

Yes it’s a bit different to the 16-20 weeks the salesman told me as they took my £1000

21st March. With still no build week confirmation. I think it will be October or November before I see mine in the flesh

Best of luck, does anybody know why the plant is closed?

People have stated it’s due to a strike, and due to adapting cars to new emissions regs. I’m confused, presumably the strike is incidental, the real reason is emissions, but why they hadn’t sorted this earlier beats me.

I think it's a combination of issues. The new WLTP regs, model year changes and VW's new approach to flexible production. It seems that they're not only modular with their vehicles, it looks as though they're trying to do this with their assembly processes too.
As for the WLTP, I don't think it's just VW. I think the whole car industry is in the same position. The new WLTP regs are causing havoc. They're real life tests and done several times to give more realistic figures (not sure if it's a good or bad thing to be honest)

The current official mpg figures are grossly misleading. If the WLTP regs lead to more realistic values, that surely is for the better. Whether or not the regs could have been introduced in a better way is another issue.

The good is that it will give realistic mpg figures, but long term it may increase VED prices

I have just got an email from the South African factory saying that they are not closed until 6 th August but that the vehicle distribution dept is on " Downtime" until 11 th June after which dealers can track orders. My dealer says he knows of cases where early ordered cars are being delivered after late order cars, which has annoyed some potential owners.
