"Fixing" the stock wireless charging plate

Who ever design the wireless charging pad for the AW1 sucks at his job. It's super flat and the rubber doesn't hold the phone in place. Since the phone needs to be centered on the pad, every time I go into the corner the phone would stop charging.
Maybe a bigger coil would resolve this issue but I'm not sure.

Simple solution to this was a bit of foam used for placing under laminated flooring. A scalpel and some patience.

Anyhoo, wanted to share :)

For some reason Wireless Charging was dropped as an option on UK spec. cars..

The wireless charging option included a component that amplified mobile phone signals, and in the UK, that signal-boosting technology was found to be capable of receiving signals from restricted sources and organisations that are ordinarily illegal to intercept.

At the time this issue was identified (April this year), any cars that had been built with this option and delivered to VW dealers in the UK had to have the signal booster removed before the cars could be released and delivered to customers.

It also affected other brands within the VW/Audi group; Seat and Skoda were certainly affected. Not sure about Audi, but with much of the technology being shared across the brands, assume they were also affected.

^^^Interesting. Always wondered why it was dropped.

It would be interesting to know "who" is at "fault" here as far as UK is concerned, our legislation or the way our covert/police agencies operate - or is ROW just being a bit lax in the way they look at this sort of thing?
