Those engines can have more hp for sure with no problems. The engineers push the car on their limits for long hours in their custom race track and from their results adjust the hp and things like that. If you are not running for ex. 2h no stop the ar on its limits then you will never end up with problems (in case you use a tuning box or remap).
Had an Opel GT with custom remap at 340Hp from 265 for 8 years with no issues at all. And believe me ... I was really pushing the car.... but of course you have to take car the engine with on time oil changes etc....
