£700 for a clutch seems a bit steep... But yes, they do seem weak and as you say, it wouldn't be a first for VW... I suppose time will tell.

£700 inclusive of non-dealership rates labour for the whole kit (one of the better ones). It's about £900 for a Sachs organic in the Golf R, fully fitted, as I have considered needing to get it done when my R's clutch slipped twice during 2 very cold days this March gone. Both times it was moderately putting my foot down in 4th at 2800rpm to 3100rpm. Never been replicated since,, even full throttle in same circumstances with temps above freezing. That was at 23k miles. Fully expect VW to deny the fix under warranty unless they opened it up (at my cost risk) and found grease contamination on the plates, citing "fair wear and tear". I expect a clutch to lat 80k miles unless you ride it. Much above 80k miles the dual mass flywheel is likely to go and take out the clutch anyway. On Ford's, those Domes seem to go like clockwork at around 85k miles. My mate had 2 consecutive Mondeo 2.0d cars - DMF went at 84k miles on the first and 85k miles on the second.

Hello there, just wondering how you're getting on with your map.
I've gave in and decided to get it done, just curious how it's holding out and if any issues have arisen.

I see TDI Tuning and Ptronics have now both brought boxes out for the GTi, TDI gives 250hp and 384nm while the Ptronics gives 263hp 439nm.

Hi DaveDaveNI1979 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 3:42 pmYeah no clutch slippage at all, very smooth through the gears still, only with more pulling power if that makes sense. Cars ready to go when needed. I dont drive flat out anyway, it mainly helps for passing more safely at 40-60 mph. They spent 2 hrs doin the remapping wasnt some amateur using a laptop. Autotune NI ballymena was place I went too.Adam_013 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 10:33 pmLooking at getting mine done - also to approx 130hp. Interested to see how you get on with any clutch slippage, or anything else.. I'd assume as long as you don't drive around like a melon all the time, it'd be fine.. my previous 1.4tdi 9n3 did start to slip when that was mapped, but it was on 110k on the original clutch anyway and it was iffy before hand [emoji23]DaveNI1979 wrote:Got mine done yesterday, bhp is up to 130 now. Nice to have that bit of extra power. But was wondering for insurance and stuff like that are you supposed tell them? Ive currently done 3k miles next service is 18k, great little car. 0-60 in just under 9 seconds lol.

For all moddrers / tuners this may be relevant if the vehicle is under warranty:

You will get a TD1 flag which means no power train warranty.
