it's the 1st of March today so it'll get a new 19 plate!

As it's a Contract hire lease car I assume that will affect the residual value positively - so it makes sense for them to wait. May even be a stipulation from VWFS.

Ooh, you'll maybe get to be part of that ridiculous scenario where a dealer allows you to choose your plate from a completely random selection that won't mean anything anyway.
I've had that before, you just feel like screaming "GET ON WITH IT!!!"

Center caps are in the glove box and fitted as part of PDI on all new VAG vehicles by the dealers

Well that approach gets some of the fun/joy out of getting a new car!

Just realised why they seemed to be in no hurry to register my car - it's the 1st of March today so it'll get a new 19 plate!

Residual value between a 68 and a 19 is around 500 to 600 pounds more.

Had a missed call from VW whilst in the shops on the way back from work! Maybe good news, maybe! Have to wait til tomorrow now...........

Just to close this off, some pics of the car once I got it home:

Not a particularly good job done by the dealer's Valeter (even though they had a second attempt after I pointed out a few bits they'd missed).

But hey, I have my car, and the rusty hubs are now a hazy memory!!!
