Polo GTI security systems (THUMPS UP)
This morning on my way to work the car in front of me suddenly wanted to take a left turn without using his turn signal. I must say that i was rather impressed with the emergency brakes. If the feature wasn't there I would had ended up in the back of a volvo.
Another thing that I've got is the blindspot sensors. Sure they are good to have in everyday driving, but where they shine is when you have to reverse out of a parking spot. Most of the time you won't have sufficient vision in smaller city parking spots, but the blindspot sensors are excellent at detecting if cars will come behind you as you reverse since you're unable to see it.

@EmiLuiZ; good to hear that the emergency braking worked as intended.
However observant we are when driving, there will be times when the unexpected actions of other road users or pedestrians make front assist / emergency braking a feature worth having.

No offence, but "will be" should really be "may be"
Not being argumentative, just saying that's it's far from a certainty we'll all need the emergency braking facility.
I've managed to drive 35 years without running down a pedestrian or running into the back of another car.
I really think the OP should admit some fault here, which they don't seem prepared to do....

Apologies, you're all quite right.
I shouldn't query the fact the OP needed to rely on this feature at all.
Carry on.

I thought most people believed anyone running into the back of another car was automatically at fault....paulrodgers7 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 12:51 pm accident

Around town especially, someone suddenly deciding they want to shoot down another road shouldn't be unexpected and shouldn't need the intervention of electronics.....
Just me...?
Okaaaaaaay.....

Andy - Its not for us to judge whether the OP was too close, didnt brake at the right time, or anything else for that matter. The OP was merely thanking the emergency brakes feature, thus this should be discussion about the feature, and nothing to do with the OP and what you think they should have done. PM me if you wish to discuss this further.

For some the system is probably needed. I'm sick of seeing drivers crawling along in the traffic with their heads up and down like a nodding donkey, looking at their mobiles. Get of your bloody phones, you're not that important.

Hopefully, as more cars get carplay, instances of this will reduce.johnpolo2 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 3:54 pm For some the system is probably needed. now now!
I saw a guy earlier on his iphone in a brand new audi a6, which has carplay, and it has bluetooth. Not much of an excuse really is there...

I've seen people in some fancy motors with their phones stuck to their ear. Never understand why they haven't got it patched through the car???
