Reversing camera alignment / question

Post by PoloGIT+ »

Hi folks,

Recently I had just reversed into a parking spot using the reversing camera when my uncle walked around the back of the car and thought that I’d left the rear catch open so he tried to force it closed - while the camera was still in operation - I quickly corrected him but I’m a little paranoid that it’s possibly out of alignment, however having not taken much attention to it before I can’t tell for sure! Anyway, can I ask does the image look correct to others with reversing cameras? Should there be that black band across the top, or should the image fill the screen? It’s a 2019 GTI. Thanks in advance!

Don't have a reverse cam so can't comment on alignment, but that volume control defo needs to be at 12 o'clock :D ....

I don't consider myself as an OCD person but the fact is that my volume control is always at 12 o'clock.
Regarding the camera mine presents a different image I would say that in your case is out of alignment, notice the bumper on my ...

So I checked and yes I also have the black line across top of the screen so don't think there is a problem.

imho this camera is out of alignment, look closely at the black band across the top of the screen, it goes narrow (right) to wide (left) across the top. I also cant see my bumper either when in reverse gear using the camera.

You're correct I had never noticed this difference.
I think this bar should not even appear.
In my previous VW Golf the rear camera didn't have this bar or a lens so angular if I remember correctly ...

Thanks all, that helps a lot! Whenever it next goes in I’ll ask the service centre to take a quick look anyway.

And yes, I’ll get that radio dial to the 12 o’clock position ASAP! :D

Like Scottyboy, my camera has about 6mm black banding across the top and I can see the 2 corners of my bumper. My black band is totally straight.

I also checked again today and confirm I can indeed see both corners of the rear bumpers and also have the black band across the top of the screen.

It may well be there are 2 different types of camera..the badge one and the other one that goes in between the rear number plate lights!!!
