Fuel Consumption of a 1.6 MPi Polo
Drove the 5 speed manual 1.6 Conceptline Polo with a non turbo 1.6 Petrol Engine (66kW (155Nm) / EA211 family/ Engine Code: CWVB), the fuel consumption is 4.9L/100km.
It seems like the fuel consumption is not much difference compare to a 1.0 TSi Polo???

I've owned 2 x 1.0TSi Highline models, consumption was close to my GTi.
The Vivo GT 1.0TSi however is extremely fuel efficinet, best I git mine down to was around 3.1L 100km

The Long Term Average Consumption is higher at 7.0L/100km, I think is because it was sitting in traffic most of the time (As you can see the Average Speed is 25km/h) and the car haven't finish its run-in period yet (The car only ran 1123km in total): The following is the Since Refuelling fuel consumption, sitting at 6.7L/100km at the moment, with an Average Speed of 28km/h:OomStu_ZA wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2019 9:42 pmI'm keen to see the long term avg.ho8882000 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2019 9:08 pm Drove the 5 speed manual 1.6 Conceptline Polo with a non turbo 1.6 Petrol Engine (66kW (155Nm) / EA211 family/ Engine Code: CWVB), the fuel consumption is 4.9L/100km.

Thanks for your reply.
Can you please tell us is this the "Since Refuelling" or "Since Start" or "Long Term" fuel consumption?
Thanks.

I guess you are also from South Africa. (I stay in Cape Town.)
Your Polo Vivo GT 1.0TSi is very fuel efficient.
The 2 x 1.0TSi Highline Polo you have, are they manual or DSG?
And do you mind tell us there fuel consumption?
Thanks.

The following is the Since Refuelling fuel consumption, sitting at 6.7L/100km at the moment, with an Average Speed of 28km/h:
20191007_095811.jpg
So my long term avg is currently 7.9L/100KM which in my opinion isn't too bad for a 2.0L engine and compares well with the fuel avg. of my old 2008 Polo 6N 1.4 MPI. Near the end of its life span it avg. 10L/100KM's but that was also due to the fact that the exhaust system was shot after 287 000 KM.
Oh and believe me I've had the consumption up there (11./12L/100KM) but since we don't always drive at full tilt its generally around 8.0L/100KM and gets me between 500-550Km per tank.
To be honest the best avg. fuel consumption I obtained was with my Polo 6C 1.2L TSI w/81KW manual. I'd easily get 900KMs on a tank of fuel... now its half that but so worth the ride

Re: Fuel Consumption of a 1.6 MPi Polo
I'm sort of jealous of you ZA people having the option of a simple and probably robust 1.6 NA petrol engine, but possibly driving it after driving a 1.2TSI 110PS, I'd reconsider my position!
The old 1.4 16V was a very robust and reliable workhorse although a bit rough and not too good on emissions and MPG, so it did cost more than the 1.2TSI 110PS in terms of fuel and road tax.
VW in the UK market, did finally offer a 1.6 16V but too late in the production run of 9N (2001 > 2009) and only with a CVT.

Interestingly in ZA the 1.6NA emission tax is R3163.00 (145g/km) while the Polo GTI is R1771.00 (134g/km)RUM4MO wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 11:13 am I'm sort of jealous of you ZA people having the option of a simple and probably robust 1.6 NA petrol engine, but possibly driving it after driving a 1.2TSI 110PS, I'd reconsider my position!

The 1.0L TSI 70kw has no emissions tax because it produces less than 100g/km, only the Highline (85KW) and above.

bit OT: are those door handles black from factory? That would be another thing vw don't even offer in europe.

indeed they are, its a budget price entry point of the "new" Polo with all its included safety features (except ACC). It was also released to mainly appease the rental market with a "cheap" safe vehicle.

Went for medium drive just now, about 100km. Here are my two images of consumption:
