I see our friends in Brazil get a boot/trunk for the AW Polo now:

That is normal practise, it has happened with previous versions of Polo etc in certain sales territories.

Yes, and I can remember when we had the VW Derby in the UK in the late 1970’s - the booted version of the mk1 Polo. Hatchbacks were still in their infancy, and the majority of cars sold in the UK were booted saloons at that time.
