Thought it was 'the law' to give a GTi, any GTi, some 'grief' i.e to drive it hard, from time to time, else why get a GTi  . I do get it though, you likes what you likes :D ....

I would recommend a DSG remap. My D is perfect now, shifts up just a little later (and faster). No need whatsoever anymore to put it in S or shift manually.

There’s a Time and a Place for everything.

Mostly steady Eddy.

But when it’s Time To Go - I’m off. In the old days one might say Hit the Rev Limiter, but modern autos don’t do that.

In fact my wife has banned me from one of my favourite “stunts” on a local M way slip road.

On the other hand, both of us love cruising round the outside of anything on a 270 degree uphill left hand M way junction. Hilarious blowing off Big Badge motors at legal speed.

I just wish the car would shift up at 5500 revs under hard acceleration, it's got nothing more to give after that.-because power and torque drop right off - no use prolonging the use of the gear to 6000 revs.

I’m close to 50 with a beard and I don’t usually bother with such antics and I’m not proud of it but every now and then my inner child has popped out, usually if it’s a spotty youth in a blinged up knackered old 1.2 corsa with a loud exhaust trying to get up my backside at the lights.

I try to drive mountain roads once once or twice a month and took the car to the track once.
Honestly after the adrenaline rush you get driving at the track nothing feels quite the same without endangering others on public roads.
Can't wait for lockdown to be over to take it to the track again.
