I'm also interested the Ali Express units, so I'd like to know some questions too.
1. Yes and no, you can choose xenon or led.
2. Absolutely not in my case you could ask the seller.
3. Yes you can adjust the height like in halogen but you can adjust extra height and right left with a screwdriver..

Ah so would I likely get Bulb Error messages with LED units if I were to go from my standard Halogen headlights to the complete LED units?ho8882000 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 7:16 pm List of Adaptation Channel to Remove LED Light Bulb Error using VCDS:

I'm so confused haha. If that is the case, how have the other members fitted these? The website seems to suggest just plug n play?
EDIT: I've messaged the seller on AliExpress. Let's see what happens...

I think the canbus errors are if you fit LED bulbs to halogen units.

Seller on Ali Express came back. Only LHD units apparently. So that's that one put to bed then haha.

OK so, say I bought these:

https://eurowagens.com/headlight-left-l ... lo-gti-18/
RHD, come with bulbs, etc, etc.
I'm guessing I can't just plug them in and they'll work? So how do the one's from China plug in and just work would be my question?

Another one greek in the conversation So, I may go off topic, but I would like to ask you what type of bulbs do you use in your fog-cornering lights! I love this bright white-blue light they produce!

You've bought VW original equipment lights, so they will plug in no problem (and so they should at that price.....wow... )Nodster wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 6:10 pm OK so, say I bought these:

There's some dubiety as to whether the Chinese made aftermarket lights plug straight in, some say they need adapters and some don't.

Re: LED headlamp retrofit
One thing I keep meaning to ask.
If I went for LED lights with DRL built-in, I'd still have the LED DRL down at fog-light level as well.
This would seem a bit excessive and would look a bit chav IMO.
So is unplugging the existing LED DRL possible, or difficult?

Re: LED headlamp retrofit
Hey, no no not bought them but was just wondering as I am halogen units at the moment and these are obviously the LED units.... official Valeo units with bulbs etc. Would I need any sort of extra modules because I'm moving from Halogen units. Which made me think, well the Chinese ones don't need anything extra... so would I get errors in the car. That sort of question. It would be a bit rubbish to spend ~£1,600 and plug them in for them not to work.Andy Beats wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 11:48 amYou've bought VW original equipment lights, so they will plug in no problem (and so they should at that price.....wow... )Nodster wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 6:10 pm OK so, say I bought these:

I was just spit balling ideas as at least these units are RHD.
Is it as simple as plug them in and away you go. I guess no one really knows?!

Re: LED headlamp retrofit
Hello again after some time!
So, I finally bought the LED headlights from AKD and after 2 months of shipping, I received them and installed them.
But I have a problem.
When the ignition is off, the headlights work fine. When I turn the high beam on, an error comes on the dashboard saying that there is a problem with the left headlight. There is no error until I hit the signal.
Secondly, when I turn on the ignition, and I turn on the high beam, a buzz is coming from inside of the left Headlight, like a motor is being turned on. The sound is coming from the headlight that has an error on the dashboard.
It cannot be a compatibility problem that causes the errors, because there is no error until I turn the high beam light, and there is an error only for the left headlight.
Also, the leveling motor is not working, with the ignition on or off. There is no change, whatever I do with the regulator in the cockpit.
So, what can it cause all these? Has anyone had such issues? Any ideas?
