Getting better performance from 115ps R-Line

Post by kieranhendy »

Has anyone done any performance upgrades to their 95PS or 115PS R-Lines? What were your results? I'm looking at trying to upgrade the turbo or do a stage 1 remap but I don't know if it's worth ruining my warranty. Thanks :D

I have a stage 1, on my 1.0 95bhp, it's currently pushing 135, i'd say it was deffo worth the tune noticeable difference for sure

Wow that's impressive. I had heard rumours of £500 stage 1s only giving about 10-15bhp on the 115ps r line and that didn't seem worth the money and ruined warranty. I might look at pricing for a stage 2 ECU when I get the chance

Yeah that 115ps, does not make a big difference. I beleive because it's the same as the 1.0 95bhp but its tweeked stock to push more, so the stage 1 is the same it can do.
I am wanting to go stage 2 soon, however I need a decat an induction kit first.

What is the point of buying a 115ps 1.0TSI Polo and moddimg the hell out of it to get stage 2 (maybe 150ps?), ruining your warramty, spending a few thousand £s in the process and being held to ransom by the insurance companies? Just sell up and get a GTI+.

It'll be cheaper in the longrun and the rest of the car will be designed to cope with a lot more power (brakes, clutch etc.).

Good advice. This type of query seeking extra power from lower range models has been going on for years. Boost the engine then you need to consider the brakes and suspension, also cooling system and clutch. By the time you have messed about with all that it's easier to just sell it and buy a factory performance model like the GTI. Insurance companies don't like modifications either. Plus resale -who wants to buy a modified / DIY tuned car? Stick to a stock GTI and save your pennies.
