A little help please

Post by wellsy1975 »

Hi people. I'm after a bit of advice is possible. My 2019 GTI seems to have 'stuck' in sports mode. I've gone from getting around the 40 mpg mark to about 23 mpg (same journey / speeds etc). No matter what mode i choose i'm getting the same. Has anyone else had this problem / issue? Thanks in advance.

Could potentially be a regen issue? Is your car doing anything similar to what's mentioned in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=71&t=73177

Hi S_94

Thanks for the info. I've had a quick scan over that link and yes mine is certainly havin a few issues as per that thread. Aswell as the low MPG, the Start / Stop has stopped working and the exhaust certainly sound louder.

I'll givee the thread a good read, cheers.

No problem.

I've never heard the Stop/Start not working reported due to a regen problem so hopefully someone else can help on that one.

With the regen I found taking the car on a good 20-30 min journey while booting it a few times sorted it out. :)

As you will read in the regen post I have had it twice, second one at the moment.
Yes I saw start/stop not functioning. The car uses this time to keep exhaust hot and send oxygen through
the exhaust to burn off particles. Typically at 1400 revs/min and 1+ litre/hr consumption (on a 1.0tsi so probably
more with the GTi engine).
