Oh and quick question as I can’t work it out. The salesman kept banging on it has Discover Navigation Pro and reading the brochure I still can’t see what’s different to the standard :D one. Any simple explanation :D

@Manclad - I’m assuming your car is one of the last of the run out pre-facelift models that got the small power increase and 7 speed DSG and not the facelift model with the IQ headlamps, horizontal light bar in the front grille and rear light cluster that cut into the tailgate? VW’s website still shows ‘coming soon’ for the facelift GTI and it’s not one of the models in the configurator yet. There’s a suggestion on VW’s website that the Discover Nav Pro will be an option on the facelift GTI - see below;

If your car is a run out pre-facelift car then Discover Nav Pro isn’t an option - it’s either a) the standard Ready 2 Discover system where you can buy additional services (incl Navigation services) in the ‘In-Car’ shop, or b) the extra cost (£510) Discover Media Nav which comes with preloaded European maps. It won’t be the first time a VW salesperson has given incorrect information to a customer on a car’s spec, although to be fair to the salesperson, it would probably be difficult to remember the spec details of every car that VW builds!

The Discover Mac Pro is an extra cost option in the mk8 Golf (the standard unit across the mk8 Golf model range is the Discover Media Nav). To upgrade to the ‘Pro’ version in the Golf costs an additional £1,200 😮 😧. The question has been asked on various forums what do you get for your £1,200 and no one really seems to know as it’s not clear from the information on the Golf on VW’s website.

Enjoy your car 🙂.

Ah yes thanks @SRGTD. I think it’s my misunderstanding then. Yes it’s the extra cost Discover Media Nav then. I’m very excited. Picking up next week and long drive down south for it and a lots of variable refs on the way back running it in trying very hard not to floor it. I want to keep this as a long term error so want to follow sensible running in approach :D

Driving it back from the dealers will be a good way to get to know your new car. Be sure to post up some pictures when you’ve got it 👍.

Picked up car and after a 400 mile round trip well worth it. Absolutely love it and my interest in car washing has reappeared after many years dormant. Car so much better than my old 6c GTi and so much more fun than the Octavia VRS 245 edition I traded it for. It really doesn't feel significantly down on power with the smaller size, agility and lower weight compensating. Apparently only 0.2 seconds slower to 60 and I can well believe it. Certainly enough power for me. Love the tech and full screen sat Nov in dash. The ride also better in normal than my 19 inch wheels with no adaptive suspension. Love it 🤩

Just taken delivery of my new GTi+. Looks like it's the DQ381 (0GC) box. Torque up to 420Nm.
The DQ381 is already mated to the EA888.3b in the Leon so it’s no surprise it’s the box they’ve used in the polo, the question is why wasn’t it in there from the beginning

That's stunning ! Then again i would say that, mine is a Sep 2020 car, white with a black pack and Brescia wheels. I orginally wanted a Reef blue car but there wasn't the availability during Covid and Crewe VW had my car in stock.

Evening all. Just popped in here as I recently treated myself to one of these cars as a bit of an impulse purchase. Back in the day I had a couple of Mk2 Golf GTI (including a campaign run out special edition) and a Mk3, which we didn’t keep for long.

Loving the new car. I sourced it from Crewe, based on my local dealer telling me what deliveries they had coming in and some persistence on the phone..

I went for the plus version and really liked the idea of sat Nav in the dash (despite the sat Nav being shyte on my last Tiguan!) and very disappointed to find out that is an option! That said, the wireless CarPlay is fantastic, so if I had the choice, I will stick with the wireless car play!

Looks great in Blue and good to have some tartan seats back in my life :D

It’s a great little car TV8 so enjoy it. Always got 41/42 mpg out of mine without trying and put a big smile on my face every time I got in it. Sadly family matters meant it had to go for something bigger, but enjoy it.

@TV8; new car looks great 👍 - the metallic flake in Reef Blue really ‘pops’ and sparkles in bright, sunny weather.

Like @lancslad1985 I get good mpg from my GTI+; long term average of 42/43 mpg.

Enjoy………..🙂

Thanks both, I do like it. I chose this one with the grey dash as well as I am a bit old for a red dash! Not sure if it’s the new car thing but I had to do a run today that I would normally have taken the 996 on but chose the Polo instead. On my fav local corner, it’s going to be fun finding where the grip starts to go!

I have the grey dash inserts too - I’m probably also a bit too old for a red dash 😀.

Indeed!

Are they VW mats or aftermarket?
