Just bought a 2005 1.4 tdi and I've been getting 59 mpg so far. That includes 70 - 80 mph motorway and town driving

Best I have ever had out of mine was 79.8 mpg but I was keeping it below 2000 rpm all the time it was tough going but 912 miles out the tank before the red light came on. Other than that 60 plus can be achieved without thinking about it. I have just bought a gti tdi golf 150 bhp and managed to average 61.7 mpg on a 387 mile journey sitting 70 ish most of the way

So many factors mate. inlet/egr gunked, bad cam timing after cambelt change, wheel alignment - lowering can put alignment out since the control arms are permanently at a lower angle. Noticed any bad tyre wear or short tyre lifespan?

50 is quite low for a light right foot in a 1.4. I struggle to get below 50 on all but the shortest, coldest trips.

noo everythings perfect ....being a vw madman and all i know how to work on them with my eyes closed....

ive cleaned out the egr and manifolds, cam timing is perfect as is wheel alignment, tyre wear is nice and even...

maybe its because its nearly touching 130k lol

i averaged just below 60 today in city....mostly big road though...im shocked at your mpg!! luckkyy yoouu lol
