Central locking will not unlock the tailgate (have to use a key).
Is there a part that likely needs replacing or could it be something else?
Door lock/unlock is fine.

It kind of sounds like the wiring into the hatch has been damaged due to regular flexing, maybe check in there first, I'd still start with taking the trim panel off the hatch as if it is wiring, you would need to get at both sides of the "potential break area" in order to sort it.

If it's like mine the is a bolt missing to hold the accuator in place so when you pull handle it opens boot
