V68 flap control motor - connector type
Is there any way to confirm the connector type (square or oval plug) based on model year or can I only be sure once the unit is removed?
I've found some with square plug covering various model years, and some with oval plug stating mark IV only.

Youll need to see whats fitted, and get the part number off it to be 100%
PM me your reg number and ill see what your car should have against ETKA

pm sent, thanks.
There are some new units manufactured by Hella which are half the price of the new VW part. Probably a better option than a used unit off eBay that might give up at some stage after doing all that work?

6Q0907511 is the correct part number for your car. This has an oval plug
The hella ones ive found are matching to 6Q0907511C which is for later chassis numbers than yours, and take the rectangular plug

I think that plan makes sense as they all probably fail eventually, I'd be a bit annoyed if I replaced one with a used one and it only lasted a month or so!littlepolo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2017 6:49 pm pm sent, thanks.

Re: V68 flap control motor - connector type
So there is a good chance mine being an earlier chassis number most likely takes the oval plug?alexperkins wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2017 11:51 am 6Q0907511 is the correct part number for your car. This has an oval plug

The tailgate boot never unlocked on the central locking and always required a key to open it. When I had the engine stripped down and was waiting for parts I decided to investigate. One of two screws that hold the actuator assy was missing such that the piston missed the lock. I could not find the screw in the tailgate. Of course, it could have fallen out at some time, though it's a long fine screw thread. Another explanation is is slipped through quality control somewhere back in 2002.
Thanks, I'll get it while it's going.

Interesting that the screw was missing. Did you manage to get a replacement? I can get the part number if not.
Re: V68 flap control motor - connector type
I replaced our V68 last year and decided to just take the pain to buy a genuine VW part (£120 ish istr) as in deference to my old knees I did not want to have to go back and do it again -
K.I.T.T put a very useful 'how to' guide on here - just in case you have not seen it.

Thanks. I had a suitable screw in my shed. Removed the bracket at the rear of the handle to fit it.alexperkins wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2017 3:05 pm Interesting that the screw was missing. Did you manage to get a replacement? I can get the part number if not.
