Air recirculation switch stays on
Air recirculation switch stays on
I have a 2005 Polo 1.4s. Lately, when I start the car the air recirculation switch (the one with circular arrow) comes on by itself and cannot be switched off. The recirculation fan is also on. When I try to switch it off, it stays off for about 2 secs, then comes back on again. And weirdly, it goes off when I reverse but then comes back on when I go forwards! Anyone got any ideas why this is happening? Is it damaging anything? And is there an easy way to fix it? Thanks!

Not good, sounds like the control logic is being inverted for some reason.

Re: Air recirculation switch stays on
The recirc flap motor on these is notorious for failure. It can be cleaned, but it might be easier to replace it. I had this happen on mine - drove me bonkers.
