Hello everyone. I’ve just bought my daughter a 1.4 Polo automatic on a 54 plate.
Cars fantastic drives great too.
I want to get it serviced and a local Indy is happy to do it but I’m not sure about something. He said it’s recommended that I change the gearbox oil and filter.
I always thought it’s just gearbox oil you need to change. I had a Golf diesel many years ago which was auto but I’m pretty certain taht the gearbox on that never needed a filter for the gearbox.
Also what’s the best oil for the Polo. She lives and works in Croydon so all short journeys to work and home in the Thea has traffic.
Thanks guys

Re: Service question
Are you sure he didn’t mean oil filter as that is a standard thing to change?
Re: Service question
He definitely said gearbox filter that’s why I was surprised myself. Think I’ll give him a miss

Re: Service question
The auto gearbox has an oil filter, thats quite common
Re: Service question
Yes common to have a filter on an autobox. Reccomended to change with the oil change.
I would use original VW oil or castrol, as it needs to be within spec or the seals will perish quicker.
