Service Information needed

Post by gjperth »

hi

2004 1.2 Twist

Planning to service car but have no manual so was wondering on folks thoughts on best oil to use on this well used 48000 mile Polo thinking of using 5/30 grade but some folk reckon 5/40 Is it worth using synthetic or should i use semi synthetic or mineral?

Also, if someone can advise on capacity with a filter change and how to reset service indicator on this Polo that would be great.

Thanks

Only use VW approved oils and that means fully synthetic 5W-40 maybe to VW 502 spec are higher if currently only higher specs are quoted, internet can provide a listing of VW oil specs and which supersedes earlier specs.
Capacity varied with engine code, BMD = 2.4ltrs BME = 2.8ltrs.
Service indicator reset, Google that - I tend to use VCDS or Carista to do that while checking for logged faults at service time.

Why not try to buy a Haynes repair manual 4608 there must be some still in stock at Haynes or secondhand on ebay!
