Hi Folks,
I always seem to fight with the missus over the 1 cup holder in the Polo. The ones behind the handbrake are useless as too shallow and uncomfortable to reach for.
We have a single din radio setup with the empty box underneath, like in this pic: https://i.imgur.com/bHCUpXw.jpg
The door storage spaces are useless as too narrow.
After a lot of research going through hundreds of Chinese vent attached ones, i stumbled across this:

I absolutely love the concept and would be the ideal placement in the car.
Given that the box under the radio gets almost no use at all, my mind is working on a way to integrate this Jetta/Golf in that space. I tried looking up the part dimensions, with no luck.
Any thoughts on this crazy idea would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I like that, it looks good.
I measured my radio while it was out yesterday and it’s 180mm x 50mm but of course the facia is a bit wider than that so the dimensions in the description would indicate it fits in a radio slot but you would need to plug the remaining 25mm gap because it’s only half height.
What you won’t know until you get it is how well it clips in and if the back end of it moves up and down. Worst case you would have to put some packing in to hold it against the radio.
While looking for a half din blanking cover I found this double cup holder for a single din slot

Re: Polo 9N extra cupholders
I'm not sure how helpful this info is, but when I originally fitted a single DIN radio to my wife's 2002 Polo (it was imported from Holland so came with no ICE only a blanking panel), the radio was on top with the rubber lined space/box below, but just fitting the correct Gamma radio, it rattled a lot as there was a slight space between it and the space/box - so I quickly cut a suitable sized bit of wood, blackened it using a felt tipped pen, and that worked - until I wised up that there is a support brace that is meant to get fitted below the radio to support it, maybe some thing like either of these two options would fill in the gap.
