Hi All,
The Seat Forum seems a bit dead so I thought I'd seek advice from you fellow polo owners.
I have a Seat Ibiza 1.2 2007, which is the same in design for drive train components. So I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem.
Currently I have a harmonic humming sound from as low as 20mph+ which becomes more audible when I increase speed, and when making a right turn. This lead me to believe it was the passenger side wheel bearing, which I finally decided to replace last weekend (after great effort and a 20T press may I add ). Unfortunately it did not fix the noise, in fact the noise is now more clearer than ever. I've heard that these style wheel bearings actually have 2 runways on each side of the bearing. So is it possible that the drivers side has also gone too? I'd appreciate any advice with this as I am completely stumped after the amount of work that was involved replacing this wheel bearing.
Did I press the new wheel bearing incorrectly and damage it? I've attached an image of how the new bearing has been pressed, if you fellas want to check this over, I did actually stick to the procedure in the haynes manual rather than using the Gen 2 specialist tools
Wheel Bearing Problem
Re: Wheel Bearing Problem
It appears I have figured out my mistake.. I have essentially pressed on the inner run way of the bearing due to not using the tool.
Serves me right...
Hope this helps someone in the future..
