Polo heater problem

Post by Doon »

I wonder if anyone could help with a problem to the heater on my 2003 (52) Polo 1.2S.

Basically it stays on at full heat in the off position & even when the ac is activated, ok its great when its cold but its like a sauna at the moment with this warm winter that we are experiencing. I hope the problem isn't critical, and I won't to spend a lot of money. I'm from Texas and haven't a lot ow work, so I need to get payday loans online in Texas to repair my car.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It sound a lot like your temperature control flap motor has failed, or at least its positional feedback potentiometer is dirty so not giving the correct feedback.

In the early stages of failure, demanding HI and then a minute later Lo and repeating that maybe 20 times, might clean up the dirty feedback potentiometer enough for it to start working.

I bought a new flap motor assembly for my old 2000 VW Passat and just left it in the boot for about a year, but eventually when driving back North from Oxford, we had to pull into the services frequently and open all the windows to let the car cool down! So that forced me to man up and replace it, as you say almost ideal in cold weather but not so in warmer weather and longer trips.

I had this problem earlier. I put up with it for over a year though it drove me to distraction (hot when I needed cold and vice-versa). Finally I found the time (and weather) to do the job and wish I'd done it earlier. As RUM4MO says you can play around tweaking the controls but it's time consuming and doesn't always work. The thread you need is here:
