Hi All,
The left hand-indicator bulb/LED in the instrument binnacle does not illuminate on my sons 2002 Polo 9N. The right-hand bulb/LED works fine and the indicators themselves externally work absolutely perfectly so no problem there but it is a bit annoying as it's easy sometimes to forget you've left the indicator on. I see from the Haynes manual that removing the instrument binnacle is quite simple and so I will probably need to get it sent off for repair (I believe getting another complete unit is a bit more involved as it would necessitate it being re-coded to the key and the immobilizer etc).
In the meantime, is this an MOT fail? - it's due in early Oct ....
TIA

A complete guess, but yes a lack of any indication that an indicator is switched on, and so giving other road users false and maybe even dangerous information, will mean an MOT failure I'd think.
Hopefully someone that has read the latest version of the MOT handbook will come forward and give an exact yes/no answer.

Update - removed instrument cluster (surprisingly quick and easy) and sent off to specialists to repair.
FYI- I used Cartronix Cluster Repair Specialists nr Portsmouth. They did a grand job, repairing the fault (the LED/diode had gone) and returning the cluster to me within 48hrs (inc post time both ways!). Very professional and I'd definitely recommend.
