Re: Power steering pump battery
no, turn it about 2 1/3 turns from the furthest position.

Re: Power steering pump battery
turn it to one lock, then count how many turns it is to the next lock. then divide by two

Re: Power steering pump battery
I get 4 turns and some change ( so tight i wouldnt push it anymore ribbon cable might break) so 2 is center, and connector match up with part number sticker.
I have counted lock to lock is 3 turns so 2 is safe.
Will update as I go.

Re: Power steering pump battery
After I all connected and changed the coding to 12, it didn't work
00778 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85)
49-00 - No Communications
Now I'm unsure If my wires moved in BCM connector. Cant believe that someone didn't think of Using and old wire and connector and a PIN to extend the BCM lead instead of splicing in. I was the idiot that was splicing in an the whole fockery took for hrs. Those pins in that possition are AF to take of.
Btw. u know what? when you code to 12, and light on dash comes on you have power steering, cool way to get you out of sticky situation
2,3 connector for stalks Pins 18,19 behind the cluster BCM pin 18,19
I didnt have an option to use a soldering iron, maybe thats the issue. But i made O on existing wires and ran mine in the middle and twisted
99% bad connection at bcm
I dont think the g85 is bad or torn since my horn works after lock to lock

Re: Power steering pump battery
it says intermittent.
can you contact the steering angle sensor via vcds?
did you measure power and GND at the T41 connector?
T41/2 CAN low
T41/3 CAN high
T41/4 GND
T41/5 +30 permanent positive SB20
T41/5 +15 ignition positive SB9
I do not see /4 /5 and /6 in your picture

Re: Power steering pump battery
No, when I change coding to 12, In live data i dont get to see G85 at all or it's values.
My pins 1-6 were all empty, I just added Pins 2,3.
From where will I get
"T41/4 GND
T41/5 +30 permanent positive SB20
T41/5 +15 ignition positive SB9"
Ground can I just bridge from the closest Brown wire, or use the Ground on column ?
SB20 - from the fuse box bellow the steering wheel. Can I just take it out completely , so I could tap the wires with a T tap?

Re: Power steering pump battery
Yes take closest brown or steering column as ground
You need to add these three wires before g85 works

Re: Power steering pump battery
Thank you, will remove it all again tomorrow and add the missing wires.
btw. here is a simple way around the BCM connector fiddling, for all of us weekend warriors. This can be used to take less room in BCM connector, and its way easier to tap rather the original wires. This idea came a bit too late, I just had a paperclip.
Simple extension with a male, and female pin. Pin is identical like one on BCM

Re: Power steering pump battery
Thank you @iichel
Everything is working now-> coding from 01->12
Gateway install list 04 ✓
Steering assist, G250 -> NO
CAN gateway, radio / aftermarket radio...
09 Cen. El. Open defroster what i want to say it works!
Thank you!

Re: Power steering pump battery
It is working, when I put it in reverse and turn the wheel the active display lines are moving. Power steering works great.
There is one issue, when you try to access 04- Module Steering Angle you can't reach it.
When you try to calibrate G85 under abs module you cant reach group 060, I also tried it via ODIS its the same story. But everything seems to be working fine. Maybe its due ABS 8.2
Edit: cornering lights working perfect!

Re: Power steering pump battery
Well in this case, absolute steering angle does not matter, v only the speed at which the angle changes. The power steering doesn't care what the angle is as long as it knows when it changes and how fast.
So now you can leave it. Calibrating is not important.

Re: Power steering pump battery
Just a little update after we sorted the issue with retrofitting G85, we again have a new issue and I'm writing off the power steering pump. Its on, draws current 31 A while not turning the wheel, no faults but until it registers the power steering pump speed it doesn't work!
After the pump reaches about 4 deg in temperature it registers the pump speed and power steering starts to work.
Its also drawing 31.0A while pointing forward, and it should draw 6.0 A like it does when it registers the power steering pump speed
I think the power steering pump is worn out or something similar, or cold solder connection.
It works flawlessly when temp is above 0
