Colour Code Badge

Post by ModifiedMadness »

I did search but couldn't really find anything useful.

I want to spray my spare GTi grille badge black, but am not sure how to do it properly, whether I can just spray it or need primer on it first.

It'll be an out of the can jobby.

Cheers guys.

I sprayed one last year without priming it.

Didn't work very well, so I would suggest priming it mate :D

Dont worry mate.

Right, basic process is take the letters off the bit that clips into the grille.

Then you might want to to lightly sand them just to give the primer something to grip onto. Then follow the instructions on whatever primer you're using, make sure it's all nice and smooth. Let it dry.

Let it dry, then spray it with the black, again put a few coats on and make sure it's even and smooth. Then let it dry.

Make sure it's fully dry, and then stick it back onto the clippy bit.

Nice one mate.

Is it possible to do it with the letters on there? If not how should I get them off and stick them back on?

Cheers.

Also you can have a passat badge. They fit inside the recess and are a lot neater. I done this on mine after c/c the polo badge so much better.

A lot of the golfs have this done on the other site.

Make sure you prime it, a least 3 coats of each (primer/colour)

I've bought the stuff I need, I'll lightly sand it with 800 grit wet and dry paper (using it wet - Thanks for the tip Redline) either tomorrow or Saturday

I'll then spray it with grey plastic primer and leave to dry, before spraying with Gloss Black spray paint 8)
