Another "Grr" moment

Yeah bbs rx214, ive got them on mine but there in need of a refurb.

Mouse where did you get your wheels from cos as you know one of mines have disintegrated when i had the blow out so im not sure if they will replace it with one of them. Its just incase i need to get another one

Mine were RX211s thinking back on it, Wish i had got them refurbed to silver now lol

Are they prone to breaking then? I guessed so because lots of people talk about getting them refurbished

Noo - the lacquer bubbles and the powder coating gets ruined. All alloys are prone to this (within reason). Its just normal - my RX 2s have been refurbed as have many other mates of mines wheels

Just brings them back to new!

mines were already quite bad when i got them off e-bay, i added a few more kurbing marks to them , and followed by a dremil multi tool when i got bored one day to remove the kerbing and left the bare metal they corroded very bad. once i get the car back from the bodyshop im definitly getting them sorted

Ahh I see, they look fantastic the BBS ones do. How much do they cost for a refurb, thats the powdercoat and laquer right? I know a few of my parents mates have had their Lotus's alloys refurbished and some have either had powdercoat and one other method (which I can't remember

)

Right, do the alloys require the refurb often? Â£170ish sounds quite a lot (almost a 3rd of what the alloys costs used!) to remove some kerbing or stubbord brake dust

remeber thats for all 4, they dont really need done at all if you look after them and give them lots of tlc.

a good alloy wheel cleaner is good for the break dust i use wonder wheels which does the job for me

Wonder wheels and Autoglym Alloys wheel cleaner is a godsend! I used it on my current VW alloys (if thats what you can call them

) and it make them look like new (beside the few corrosion patches).

I'll probably end up getting them from someone on here to be honest and get them refurbed. I feel a bit inclined to do it because it only cost me Â£750 for the car and spending Â£300 odd on alloys that need a refurb seems to bring some reality into the situation. I suppose you can sell them and put the old ones back on if you sell the car

Soapy water

Autoglym can be quite corrosive, especially if used on BBS RMs with chromed bolts - it makes them rust

But yes its very good!

I only got mine refurbed because 2 separate garages managed to kerb 2 of them, and I accidently kerbed a third. Can't remember where I got them but they were Â£600 for the 4 new, and only Â£100 more for a set of Toyo T1-R's (195/45 - I think, I get muddled between the S's and the R's). Had to change them for 195/40s as the original tyres were rubbing even before lowering
