on my white polo my bumpers were painted. i got the dbl sided sticky pads for number plates from halfords (the thickers ones as the bumpers isn't flat so the plate would then stay stuck) and i was able to remove them without the paint being taken off :)

Velcro sounds like the best idea, as for the 2 bits stickin to the bumper, why not get a set of plates made up with Polo or Envy or somethin on em 2 replace with at shows?

Rob, why don't you get some really long powerful magnetic strips glue them behind the plate recess on the back of the bumper. Glue the other magnets on your number plate and when you attach it to the bumper use some Polystyrene lining the really thin stuff to stop it scratching your bumper and its water proof so the rain will not damage it. Make sure all 4 lengths of the plate are covered so it holds on really strong.

I might do this myself thinking bout it would be a subtle but tidy mod.
