ANyway, leave the poor lad alone.

His car his rules, stupid or clever............

Iv got Black diamond drilled and grooved with fast road pads and they stop me at many different speeds just fine, Set me back around £400 tho so any decent upgraded disk front and back will be putting pressure on ya moneys,

As for ur job and being late, a cheeky 15mins ontop of your alarm does wonders for me, nice cuppa before work is a win........

Cheers dude. I'm gonna do all 4 pads and disc.

As for getting up earlier??? I have tried but alarm clocks have bloody snooze buttons. All I need is a fag and some lucozade

Last thing on my speed..........I am respectful and responsible and abide the law on normal roads. The M3 is an exception, Its empty early in the morning

I know I was only teasing.. His car and his rules and all that, it's just not him on the road, plebs pull out in front of people all the time and at that speed with crap brakes it's not only him who is going to end up smushed all over the M3.

On that note,

Rear brakes do about 20% max of the braking, it's all front brakes (If you over-do the rear's you'll end up with oversteer on braking meaning you'll end up facing the wrong way in a sticky braking situation)

I recommend any decent drilled/grooved disks, or a mixture of the two with some fast road pads... From any decent manufacturer, such as brembo, mintex, padgid, black diamond etc.

I have used Brembo Max discs mixed with EBC Green stuff pads.. Stopped on a penny from any speed. These were grooved, not drilled.

Another option is the 280mm front disk upgrade - This is borrowed from the common Mods section:

280mm G60 Brake Disc Upgrade

The standard Polo GTi brakes are 256x25mm

The G60 ones are 280x22mm, but you can use the carriers off any car with 280x22mm brakes, even the 5-stud ones, so the list of donors is af follows...

Mk3 Golf GTi 1992-1996
MK3 Golf VR6 1992-1995
Corrado G60 & VR6
Ibiza Cupra 2.0 16v 1998-1999
Ibiza Cupra 1.8T 1992-2002

Be aware, that Mk3 Golf GTi/VR6 later models had slightly larger 288x25mm brakes, and these arent any good to you.

Another way of identifying them is the 256mm and 280mm ones will have either lucas or girling written in the casting, and the 288mm ones will say ITT or ATE.

You can use the calipers off the with 280mm brakes along with the cariers, as you can then use the G60 pads as these are thicker so will last longer, but you will have to come up with your own solution for a brake hose as they wont take the Polo banjo hoses, and the calipers are wider so may cause problems with some wheels.

If you re-use the Polo GTi calipers, you will have to use the Polo GTi pads, but the 280mm discs are a bit thinner than the Polo GTi ones, as are only 22mm thick rather than 25mm, but shouldnt cause too much problems but I woudln't run the pads right down as the piston will be sticking out further than it normally would.

Oh, and a good tip for alarm clocks is to have them bloody loud and at the opposite end of your bed, so you have to get out to turn it off (or press the snooze!) And your half way there to getting up.. Worked for me as I'm a lazy t**t!

Buy one of these:

:D

G60's are your best bet, just more hassle finding a set, instead of just buying a new set off the shelf.
