ignition coil help pleassse?

Post by d.watson08 »

Hello everyone.... first post and getting pretty desperate!

I'll fill you in first, on sunday had to abandon my car 200 miles away from home (crap aa cover) because it suddenly stopped working. Found out engine had no spark.
Got the car back to my gf's house and spent the last few days trying to fix it.

I bought a new coil that worked for about 10 miles then became very lumpy and stopped. I once again don't have a spark and traced it back to the coil. It has 12v on the live wire going in but no spark when I connect a plug directly to it.

Would this suggest it is a faulty coil and I should take it back? Can I use a multimeter to determine if it's any good and what reading should I get from it?

Any help would be much appreciated!!!
