Has anyone come across this … when you select reverse on our 2007 1.2 S while the heater fan is on - the airflow to the passenger side foot well increases two fold?
It’s noticeable by the noise it makes … just like changing the fan switch from 2 to 4 but only on the passenger side.
I’ve ruled out the gear change mechanism interfering with the fan speed switch and changing it up a notch or two because it happens even on position 4 … full speed.
Thank you
Ray
Select reverse … more airflow to foot well … a mystery.

Yup happens in my GTI

When you stick the car in reverse, it automatically turns the recircualtion switch on, so the car does not draw in air from outside, just keeps recircualting the air in the car
Its so when you reverse through the exhaust fumes, they don't get sucked into the car
This is the noise you hear when the fan appears to speed up when slecting reverse

Interesting, good to know. Our 9n and our 9n3 do this, so now I know why! Thanks.

Just like your rear wiper wiping the rear screen when you select reverse and the front wiper is on.

I wondered this to - thanks for the explanation. Makes sense.
