My aux belt is sleigh bell-esque on start up, by sleigh bell i mean squeaky when spinning very reminiscent of sleigh bells.
I always considered this to be trivial and just the noise of the belt moving, could the belt need renewing?

Re: Anything to worry about?
All belts squeak when wet dude, can't tell ya why but just do...
Little crazy advice but works 100% is talcon powder on the belts softens them up and makes them glide better.
Do mine once a week to keep them nice.....
Even flour works but not alot.

If its squeaking its time to replace it generally. A new VW belt wont squeak I know that for a fact!

Re: Anything to worry about?
A new belt will be dry though so deffo won't squeak......
I have had my belts squeaking when wet for two years as i removed my undertray due to my lower brace not fitting...
Raid ya mums cupboards before new belts and take a look at your belts if your really really worried...

Re: Anything to worry about?
I briefly remember reading about VW belts having some sort of a special fibre criss-cross layer that specifically stops them from squeaking. So if they squeak, it was generally a sign to replace them.alexperkins wrote:If its squeaking its time to replace it generally. A new VW belt wont squeak I know that for a fact!
