The GTI knob isnt in that bad condition at all really, it has a small mark on the side from wear and the red I on the GTI logo isnt red anymore. I did already ask my brother if he wanted it, but if he doesnt want it, i will let you have first refusal Nigel.

The S3 one was given to me for free so i couldnt complain about it having 6 speeds on it really

The 6th speed is underneath the plastic resin so cant rub it out.

The knob was a straight swap over apart from the gaiter, i have had to use the existing gaiter as the S3 one is a lot smaller, shame really as the S3 gaiter is exactly the same style with the red stitching and the leather is a lot thicker.

The new knob sits about 30mm lower than the original gear knob.

That looks really good neil :)

I'll get those pics tagged for you today mate.
Be nice to see what plans you have for the engine on your GTI, Eaton Supercharger would be amazing.
Some lad has done something similar on Club Lupo but it did cost him a small fortune.

I think a charger would be cool, i can get the actual Eaton charger for £100 its just the fabrication work to get in.

Will have to wait a fair few moths though either way, the list of OEM+ parts i have found so far is gonna cripple me

Good Man :)
Its good to see GTI's having money spent on them, unfortunately alot 6N2 GTI's look really rough these days and its becoming hard to find a good example. Would you ever go down the engine conversion route?

Neil, appreciate that a lot :) cheers
mate. The actual leather on mine is pretty badly worn but I'm not sure I can justify a brand new one.

Niel what a top job you've done! Really admire the direction your taking with the GTI now! Looking forward to the updates on the wipers! (need to get me that steering wheel too )!

Manged to fit the programmable wiper relay to the polo and it works a treat, no longer do i have to wait 5 seconds for an intermittent wipe, now i can choose how long it takes :)

Old number 19 relay:

New number 99 relay:

Fitted to the car:

I had to take the dash out on the drivers side to get to the relay panel which was a bit of a pain, only had to do this because the relay was clipped in with two clips and i couldnt get my hand in there to release them.

Its great, you can program it from 1 second to as long as you want, i always hated it when it wasn't raining enough to have the wipers on all the time but enough to obscure the screen when on intermittent

It IS just as simple as swapping the relay, the VW part number is show on the relay, they pop up on ebay quite regularly ranging from £2.50 - £10

I got mine from a friend who was breaking/stripping a mk3 golf down so i got it for free.

I cant believe that Mk3 golfs had these but then they didnt bother on the newer cars like polo/lupo etc. Cant see a different relay costing too much more money.
