*** Show Winning Polo GTI ***

Post by Silky V »

After many months of deliberation I have finally decided to sell my Polo GTI due to it not being used anymore. This is because I work in London and very rarely get the opportunity to drive. The proof of this is that the car only covered 2000 miles between MOT's last year.

Right, here are the details:

2001 (6N2) 1.6 16v Polo GTI (Y reg)

History:
The car has 3 previous owners. However, the first owner was a woman who was originally given the car as a company car and then bought it off the company, so technically it has 2 former keepers and I have owned the car since April 2005.

Full Service History and HPI clear. Taxed (Dec 2012) & Tested (July 18th 2012)

Mileage: 76638

Pedal box and clutch cable were replaced at 42596 miles under warranty at local VW dealership in 2006 (Invoice to prove)

Gearbox was replaced in October 2006 at 48821 miles with a brand new box from VW dealership and installed and fitted by Virdee Autos, Park Royal. This was around £1000 at the time and I also have the invoice to prove it.

Shows:

...There's probably other bits that I've missed out.

Just to note there are 2 small chips in the windscreen and a few stone chips on the front bumper.

Not sure how to price it but there has been no expense spared on this car over the years, so here goes:

It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Try pricing up buying one and then getting all the mods done to it. I know you never get what you put into it back but I'm sure it would come to even more than that if you was to build it now.

Suspension is about £800+ not to mention that there are only a handful of WRD Mesh wheels in the UK (if you can find them), so I think it's fairly priced in my eyes.

thats the problem with modified cars, you never get back what you pay.

take the coilovers, nobody cares that they are as good as you get near on 1k's worth as most people buying a 6n2 are happy slapping a set of jom on it without appreciating the finer quality.

good luck with the sale anyway.

Lovely Motor! :)

I would just stick it back on the BBS RXII's and ask £3.5K because those wheels are worth more off the car than on it

Sold my Black GTI in August last year for £3250.00 which had lower mileage than yours and full OEM black leather interior
71K miles, Spax fully adjustable coilovers, smoothed bumpers, tinted windows etc spent about £4-5K on it over 3 years of ownership

Yours is a stunning example but the styling will not appeal to everyone, especially the front end so I think a price of £3500 would be a good deal for you.

Selling your pride & joy is always tough, it’s probably worth a lot more to you but in today’s car market it’s only worth a fraction of its true value.
Gutted to sell mine but they are over 10 years old now and guess sellers have to be realistic

Good luck with the sale mate :) stunning example of a GTI

3.5k is way too much imo because you kind of devalued the car by putting a "badboy" bonnet on. may i suggest, sticking it up on ebay?
good luck.

I think it's worth exactly what i'm asking for it. If it doesn't sell then i'm not too bothered as it's just sitting in the drive and i'm in no real urgency to sell.

Was grafted on by one of my uncle's friends and my bother got the boot handle working. It's a bit harder then it sounds. PM and i'll give some more detail when i'm a little more free
