Can you translate the linked page? I see that his original email to VW was in English, but what of the outcome?kawabanga wrote:This is the answer that VW International gave me about my concernings on my 1.4 TSI expressed on FB.
I suggest everybody who have oil consumption problem to write at the email adress below, we are doing the same in Italy...
Hello Max, in this case we recommend to get in touch with Volkswagen headquarter's customer service via [email protected] by stating your name and details as well as your vehicle identification number and your request. The customer service department is where all issues are collected and solved. We wish you all the best.
Here the first result of another user: Wolfsburg
I also received an answer by email after my segnalation.
They will probably adress the issue to your local customer service, but the ticket will be opened directly by the headquarter: this is something more than nothing...
Are You Using Oil?
Re: Using Oil!
Re: Using Oil!
I'll use Google translator, sorry for possible mistakes...
Want to know the beautiful thing? I have just contacted by telephone, directly from Wolfsburg (headquarters!), if I've understood right it is one of the responsible for customer service! To which the Secretary of the Presidency (whether directly nn Winterkorn himself!) Has turned the mail and in addition he wanted to know the problems encountered! And to which I said I was tempted to sell the car, in addition to not buy more VW in my life, given the disappointment!
Moral: my alarm has gone hand in the technical department in order to consider what to do! I mentioned that piston's rings change , while engine or both NOT solve the problem! I also said that the problem is known to the importer in Verona, but is ignoring the ns. requests because they even don't know what to do!
Then the ticket was passed to VW Italy, just the same place were the user complained his oil problem with the GTI: the good think is that the ticket now was opened by VW's headquarters...
Myself I wrote to VW:my GTI doesn't have oil problem for now (0.45liter in 6500Km), but I'm worried for what could happen after warranty expiry, so I wrote my concernings to the email adress I linked above and they immediately answered with a ticket number for my segnalation: better than nothing...
I think that if everbody with oil problem will write to headquarter they will better understand the amount of the problem (even if I think they perfectly know it!).
If you read my message wrote March 13th you can see that a solution for the problem is not present yet, this is already known...

Re: Using Oil!
My oil light came on today, 1000 miles after I had last put some in. It was doing 1200 miles per litre, seems to be getting worse though recently

Again, my suggestion is: write here [email protected]George H wrote:My oil light came on today, 1000 miles after I had last put some in. It was doing 1200 miles per litre, seems to be getting worse though recently
Re: Using Oil!
Perhaps this issue has been addressed with Newer build dates of the Polo GTI,
I am NOT having any issues at all.
Very mixed driving, and some spirited driving as well.
I have done the equivalent of 500 miles so far, not one drop of OIL used so far.

Interesting. Wonder if mine will be sorted when it comes then. I assumed VW would have pulled their fingers out by now.LocoPolo70 wrote:Dont know about europe but a guy down in OZ who got his in Jan 2012 been having issues so think still a hit and miss on this motor until new one comes out.

Re: Using Oil!
I got mine in December 2011 and at 2500km( 1500 miles if im not mistaken) put in around 450ml, oil marking on the dipstick was below half. So within limits but there are people that use less in longer stints so cant say for sure just yet. Driving in city mostly as havent had a road trip to really stretch her legs. Will be able to do that in a week or 2 as going to get my new wheels legalisedand will be doing a 350 mile trip( live in Portugal so anything bigger than what comes in the tech specs of the car has to be inspected and legalised). Well they do have a new engine code coming in May...CHTE, so this might be the solution, dont know.

Re: Using Oil!
Fingers crossed .... Will look into it. Thx!
Re: Using Oil!
Checked mine today, after 400 miles it was halfway down the hatchings, but it took very little oil to get it to full again, so proof that the dipstick is not linear.
Apart from that, all seems ok, but sooty exhaust pipes as normal.

Mine took 1600 miles to get half way on the dipstick, 6 weeks - 800miles later the light was on and bone dry
Re: Using Oil!
Hi Chaps,
Here are my latest oil consumption figures since having the new engine under warranty last December 2011. The engine apparently has the new lower block.
Oil light comes on after first 1200 miles.
Then
Oil light comes on after 2200 miles.
Then (and latest)
Oil light comes on after 1650 miles.
Some oil remains on the dipstick each time, it's not completely bone dry by any means but it's low.
Can't say I'm stressed about it these days. It's still a great little engine and one day VW may get it right.
I will however get rid of the car before the warranty ends!

Re: Using Oil!
Just been out to mine. I have just added about 250 ml, coupled with the 100ml or so I added last weekend. This is within about 500 miles approx, so this is actually within guidelines. (1 litre per 2000km or 1250 miles).
I did see a very brief puff of oil smoke when out on a faster run yesterday, normal circumstances, booting it again after having been on a high speed run for a while.
After this recent fuel 'crisis', I was forced to put in normal 95 RON fuel, I try and use super unleaded where possible, and I swear the pick up is not quite so clean and sprightly as if using Shell V-Power or BP S/UL.

Re: Using Oil!
1l per 2000km is way to much, at 1l per 5000km I would be not worrying that much but still that's to much.
VW states 1l per 1000km, that's offcourse absurd. If the engine is build correctly oil consumption should be at minimum, like 10.000km and still no drup of oil used. But the engines aren't that greatly engineered.
The more oil it consumes, the sooner problems will start to appear. The oil clogs up everything at some point. So if you use up 1l under 5000km I should deff go complain @ VW.
