Yesterday was a big step towards getting this upgrade finished.

Gearbox had dried from second coat

Image

Gave the alternator casing another coat too

Image

Wrapped the downpipe and bolted it on

Image

Boost pipe connected

Image

Bolted the gearbox to the engine

Image

Then bolted it back in the car :-)

Image

Wired up and connected up most of the bis

Also dropped the wheels off to be re done so they should be back next Saturday

Almost there now

Thanks mate. I left it to late in life to work in garages so can't afford the pay drop

But love it as a hobby. The feeling you get the first time it kicks over and works and knowing its done by me is great.

Will certainly put a video up. Could have started it today but my new optima battery was at home and the need to get some oil. Probs have the first start next weekend

Been in the garage today but battery was dead on the camera

Just need to do/buy the following and it's done

Air filter
External fuel pump and special fittings from badger 5 so it sits where the fuel filter currently lives
Oil
Water hoses (mine are at Samco so they can produce a silicone set for our cars)
Circlip for waste gate as its missing from my turbo
Tighten the oil return fittings as I don't have the correct size spanner
Fit drive shafts
Fit wheels
fit front end of the car
Run the engine in
Then map it.

Hope to make it to GTI International and show it off

Hope you have informed cr turbos of the clip missing. That's if it's something they should have fitted.

Ha you really do hate them. What happened? How come your bro/mate blew 4 turbos?

Bad workmen ship on their part. After blowing two up pretty much within a week of each other, during mapping nick from r tech fitted a standard turbo back on and ran the turbo past it's limits to try to destroy the turbo through heat stress and failed showing there was plenty of oil going through the turbo. To back this up he paid vw to do oil pressure and flow checks at many points of the engine and this showed the turbo getting enough oil too. How ever they insisted that it was oil starvation. Ended up at court over the issue where cr turbos lost effectively and gave him another turbo (brand new) that lasted 3 weeks then blew the exhaust sill so he got annoyed and went for a gt28 conversion on it which was so much better. Also they use standard actuators on a lot of their turbos that shouldn't run a standard one. They either build a good turbo or a series of bad ones and blame other things that have been proven to be fine. Every time it was the same issue of exhaust sill failing. One failed pretty much after fitting the turbo. Nick didn't charge for labour as he felt sorry for my brother getting arsed about by cr turbos. And fitment of the turbo was done to the letter with new oil and turbo lines every time as it should be.

Ok I picked my wheels up yesterday.

Also received my DA-31 external fuel pump and special fittings

Whilst I put the wheels on my son kept himself amused by standing all over my lovely chairs

Then after 2.5 months it was holding its own weight

And the moment I have been waiting for :-) (excuse the commentary. And obviously no water on the floor as there is no water in the car lol)

Thanks mate. Haven't done the throttle body adaptation yet it sounds better due to the engine warming up a little and oil getting around the engine.

I did turn the car over without injectors plugged in a few times to help prime the fuel pump and oil pump
