Can someone explain why people stretch the tyres? I really don't get it. Don't think it looks good, and does it not make the handling crap? They look like they could pop off at any minute. Why not just put the tyres that were designed for that wheel on? Is it to save money on them or something?

U really think I give a toss about handling on a 1.2 :p haha

And what ppl think look good it down to taste. A love them think they look unreal. All down to ppls own personal opinions. Most my mates have stretch.

And stretch tyres are no more expensive just gota make sure you have a good tyre designer that designs tyres too stretch. It is just depends on the brand

And if I put the like of a 225/40 tyrse on which is the correct size for my wheels then my arches will just destroy the tyres this is the main reason ppl get stretch

but also if I get none stretch wheels then this means my stance makes my car illegal. May sound daft but It has been looked it up. And the law states you are allowed to have a poke of wheel up to 30mm proceeding outside of the arch. But tyre tread must not be shown proceeding or poking out from the wheel arch of the car.

most people get stretched tyres so that the tyre fits perfectly around the arches on a lowered car, it does not look stupid what so ever!
it will only ever looked stupid on a none lowered car where there is no need for stretch.

Mashmarriner - your car is so nice and i love the colour theme! tempted in copying it slightly for my 6r match

Yea mate I Hope I also touched on that point a bit in what I stated before. But I had so much too say I couldn't say it all lol. And if ppl look at where my arches are to were my wheels sit they will see they is no physical way I can put 225/40 tyres on that. Just will not fit.

And mate do it. But ad a few of your own little touches. I admit I copied off a lad off the german forums. Am sure at the 1st page of the thread there is a pic.

Not one is really arsed if you COPY off them. We are all on here to share ideas and give advice. Be really good to see another 6r that looks like mine on here. As you feel ppl know then ppl like the look and the way the car is.

I say take a dive and get it done mate. Takes some time and a hell of a lot of money. But in my eyes it is worth it.

Stretch is gay, end of.

Also, for accurate measuring you need to measure from wheel centre to arch lip.

Well yes to be honest lol. I thought the point of lowering it and fitting better suspension was to make the handling better?

I still don't see the attraction in stretched tyres, not a fan of how they look personally but each to their own. I still think they look like they could pop off at any minute though!

In your opinion. I can understand people not liking them either for looks or practical reasons but it doesn't mean that's the only opinion mate.

How do it make it gay. Like to see how you would be able to get these wheels on ur car on a 75mm drop mate without stretch.

And that is your opinion

And I only measured from there to get a good sence of the drop coz I thought it was 160mm and I was wrong. And I also wanted to see if the wheel and tyre combo had any affect on the overall hight Of the car

If I was looking for a good handling and faster car I would of got a good handling and faster car. I lowered it for looks. If I wanted to improve the handing I would of done a lot more then just lower it

And in my view I hate the look of big fat tyres on a car. Just all down to people's own opinions like u say. My car is build for style not Preformance. I will come to proformance when I can afford insurence on a proformance vehicle

Fair enough, I just thought you were trying to make a great handling car that wasn't particularily fast so insurance was good. A bit like a Lotus Elise, they're really slow but great handling/fun 8)
