Hey mate :)

Still saving at the moment 8) although my mate has kind of persuaded me to go for stage 2 cams rather than drop ins.
Reason being is to get some head work done too, looking at a port & polish with stage 2 cams with retainers and valve springs.

It wont make big big gains but we could be talking 275bhp with a rev limit of 9200rpm
Torque would be a flat line of around 175 lbs ft and maybe 180 peak so very tasty figures but its even more money to spend if I go down that route

How's yours coming along mate?
Did you go for that Buddyclub manifold? A lad I know has a Spoon Catback mated to a Buddyclub header on his DC5 and it sounds epic!

Not updated this for ages  cheers for the bump Craig

Well loads has happened since the last time I updated this page so I better start adding what's been done

Here goes...

I bought a new exhaust system back in March from a company called Solid Fabrications, it's a 3" bore custom made system with a Twin 3" rolled tips backbox and large centre silencer. This was fitted to replace my Spoon Catback which has a 2.38" bore (ID)
Here are a few pics before it was fitted to the car

Here she is being fitted by my mate Gaz (car was disgustingly dirty before fitting )
Comparison pic too of both B-Pipes (Spoon vs 3" Solid Fab)

The plan was then to get the map tweaked but unfortunately that never happened, I waited a little while longer for that but all will be revealed further down the page . Next up was a little weight loss for the car which was a hard decision to make but I bit the bullet and went for it. Rear Seats, door cards, plastic trim, spare wheel, parcel shelf, boot plastics, tool kit, seat belts etc were all removed leaving the back of the car very bare but roomy.
All that weighed in at 52KG's and I also weighed in the OEM front seats which are 19KG's per piece.

I had also been busy buying a few goodies for the gearbox, firstly a Spoon 5.10 Final drive and Exedy Stage 1 Clutch Kit

Continued....

A couple of months passed and I saved up a bit of dollar for my trip to Grinspeed in Leyland.
Purchased the neccesary parts which included the following

- M Factory Limited Slip Differential
- NTN Differential Bearings
- M Factory Carbon Lined Syncro's (Gears 1-6)
- Tegiwa Harness Bar including Rod ends & Bolts
- RDX 440cc Fuel Injectors (Honda)

As well as the Exedy Stage 1 Clutch Kit and Spoon 5.10 Final Drive

Next up was a set of new tyres as I had shredded my 2 front Parada Spec 2's :)
I went for a larger profile tyre this time for a litte extra comfort (getting old now) and went for Michelins HP Primacys all round (215/45/R17)

I got them fitted at a local garage and then headed to Grinspeed in Leyland to get all my gearbox parts fitted.

I got the grill sprayed up recently as it was looking a little tired

Primed followed by a couple of coats of matte black :D
I just need a new Honda badge for the front now because the one I took off was battered, I have also decided to leave the Type R badge off for now because I think I prefer it without it.

I think it looks great if I'm honest, the metallic grey & NHB was just not working for me and the now matte black grill suits the front end a lot more

Image

Got the J's racing oil cap on too
Image

Well my J's racing cap didn't last long

Image

It came with a dodgy looking seal which I fitted because I assumed it would need it (never assume). Anyway on the way back home from work after a spirited drive I hear something pinging off the car hitting several other items in the process, at the time it literally just sounded like an empty can hitting the underside of the car. I was cornering quite hard at the time so slowed right down and drove the remaining mile & half home very slowly as a precaution. Checked the car over when I got back home and then popped the hood to find the cap missing

The Mugen cap which I now have back on has a built in rubber o-ring at the base of the threads so it forms & tight seal when fitted. The J's on the other hand does not have this built in seal but came with a separate black thick seal (over 2mm thick) which I fitted and it did fit tight but in hindsight it was probably just tight against the rubber rather than the threads.

Anyway I ordered a couple more parts last week for the CTR.
PLM Race header and Progress 27mm FARB so I snapped both of those up :) I will be picking them up from TDI on August 7th so i'm looking forward to that. Plan is to get the header ceramic coated and then look at changing my intake for something fed from the front bumper.

Image
Image
Image

J's racing throttle body was fitted recently (Thanks Gaz) and it feels excellent on the road, really smooth as it should be!
S90 TB & Adapter were removed, I had to use a standard Tegiwa RBC adapter with a thermal gasket but it's done the job nicely.
Image
Image

My car is having the TDI cams fitted on the 7th along with my 410cc RDX Injectors so it should hopefully make some decent figures.
Plan after that is to then buy an Oddysey lightweight battery and get started with the velocity stack

PML header will replace the Piper once it's been ceramic coated and sometime later this year I will look at valve springs and a custom ported RRC

I was at TDI North yesterday getting a set of their cams fitted along with a set of 440cc Honda Injectors.

I predicted it would make around 255-260+bhp so I was pleased to see it make 255.6bhp.
The one thing letting it down though was the torque and TDI believe this is due to the design of the Piper Header.
I think I have reached the limitations of it now since adding the 3” exhaust and TDI cams.

Previously the car made 166lbs ft (225NM) but since the cams have been fitted the torque has actually decreased by 3lbs ft and my once smooth torque curve is no more. It should be around the 175/180 mark in the mid range so something is badly letting it down and all fingers point to the header. Thankfully I already have a PML header so the plan is to get that wrapped/ceramic coated then head back to TDI for a tweak to see if the losses of torque can be resolved.

My Tegiwa fuel rail was cracked too so that had to be replace with an AEM Rail (thankfully TDI had one in stock).
Tegiwa have agreed to credit me for the rail so it's all good.

It was a hot day yesterday so a couple of cars on the dyno had produced less power than previously including one of the EP3 Civic Cup cars which made 245bhp yesterday (previously 259bhp).

I think a map tweak with the new header might see me break the 260 mark, especially as temperature can make up 5-6bhp. Anyway a few pics from the day

Snap of the New AEM rail supplied by TDI North after the Tegiwa Rail...Failed

It kind of just broke

Fair play to Tegiwa they will be issuing a credit note for the rail so I can't complain

I need to invest in a decent machine polisher at some point as there as some swirl marks on the paintwork and next time I will clay bar it all over (didn't have one this time)

Looking cheeky mate, updates are awsome, always enjoy reading through them.

Hopefully the new header will solve a few things, the toda header I put a deposit on should have been yours mate, that's what ya want..... Should be the best torque maker. Also the rbc can limit torque but give good bhp gains. The skunk 2 one is meant to be more torque friendly.

Velocity stack next bro?

Cheers fella :)

Toda is class mate but the PLM is basically the same so in terms of gains it would do just aswell, possibly better :D
The PLM is a copy of the SRS US Header which has been making huge gains in the states so it should be good for mine, it's more the mid range losses that I want correcting so the peak power shouldn't be too different.

Yeah RBC is pretty poor low down, makes up for it at 7K but it's worse than the OE Intake manifold in the lower revs.
Skunk Intake is a lovely bit of kit, I wish I would have bought that one in the first place to be honest but kind of rushed into getting the RBC haha

Best overall intake is the RRC but to fit that on an EP3 you have to lose the bonnet catch and run bonnet pins which I can't be bothered with.

Yeah 3" velocity stack intake next fella and a odysey race battery, not too concerned about gains I just want it to sound insane with an open stack haha
