What alloys will fit?

Noob question I know but

So I know my polo is 5x100 but not much else. So when I'm looking for wheels on ebay, do I just need to look for 5x100 and then check the offset (is this what et35 means for example?)

For instance, if I find some Subaru wheels which are 5x100, will they fit? Thanks!

Subaru wheels will fit pcd wise as you say, they are 5x100. Although the centrebore (cb) on subarus are 56.1 and Vw are 57.1 so you'd have to mill 1mm off the cb so they'll sit on the hub correctly.

(You could manage the 1mm with a file tbh)

Ah I see. Where can I learn about other things like cb then as I'm clueless and I want to know what I'm buying haha
