unleaded or super unleaded?

Post by jpgt »

Hi,

If this has been asked before I apologize for asking again.

I'm a new owner of the polo blue GT and absolutely loving it. What unleaded is best to use for the GT?

Pretty sure the GT just runs on standard octane fuel. Best bet is to flick open your fuel cap and have a read. It will be stated on the sticker :)

I've had a look and it says 95 RON min which is bog standard unleaded. Just wounded if anyone has used the premium unleaded in there GT and if it makes any difference or not. :D

It will provide a slight performance increase and will be kinder on your injectors helping keep them cleaner. It's just whether you think it provides enough benefits for the extra penny's :D Run a couple of tanks through and see what you think, it certainly wont harm anything. But you must run a couple of tanks to ever see a difference, you won't see any gains from just one fill up mate. :P

Ive been running super unleaded on the last 2-3 fill ups. The result is indeed a "slight" performance advantage, but not really enough to justify the extra cost. I do notice I can get an extra 15 miles out of a tank full on super. That's about a 4% increase in fuel efficiency.

Most would probably argue it ain't worth it for 7% higher price per litre. I'd agree with them.
