Halogen to Xenon lights

Post by chrispy. »

Hi!

I am planning to upgrade my headlines to the official VW Xenon headlights. However I heard that they may be illegal because I dont have headlight washer jets.

Is this correct?

Does anyone know the wrongs & rights of upgrading to Xenon. Has anyone ever done this and can share tips & advise?

Please let me know.

Chris.

Hi mate. To stay within the UK road legislations, any car fitted with xenon headlamps must be fitted with washer jets and must be self levelling. To retro fit with OEM parts legally its big bucks.

Just wanted to know if there were any restrictions

I think the law states any new car supplied with Xenon s needs washers and levelling kit , I am sure this has been covered before and if you retrofit you can avoid washers ,I may well be wrong and things may have changed but im 99% sure that is how I read the post

Retrofitted HID installations must conform to OE specification from the factory

Xenons without washers and levellers where they *should* be present will fail MOT.
