2014 spec. BlueGT finally here :)

Post by nry »

A rather strange parting with my Astra last night, thought I'd be more fussed than I was, hey ho, 12 years of ownership and 210,000 miles has come to an end!

This afternoon I finally picked up my new Polo BlueGT with the 2014 spec - 150ps/7.8s 0-60, active cylinder tech which was showing a majorly impressive 60+mpg on the way across town today! Should see top end figures on my work drive which is usually 50-60mph on a-roads. It also shifts amazingly in 1st and 2nd, the other gears are deceivingly fast, it does not feel fast when cruising but I had to keep an eye on the speedo!

The touchscreen infotainment is very nice to use, though I'm not sure on the audio itself yet, I've not had much of a play. There are 2 SD card slots in the glove box in the CD player unit, I didn't realise it had these so I'll probably ditch the USB pen in favour of SD then there's not pen sticking out of the centre console area!

Some rubbish pictures from today, not been far in it yet!

A few little presents from the dealership, they figured flowers weren't my thing! Also got a Thornton's chocolate car, sorry, that's gone!

Very nice indeed - must feel a world better than a 210,000 mile Astra! Enjoy!

Nothing wrong with the Astra in all fairness, it was just a case of jumping before being pushed :)

It was well looked after with a few tickles!

Yup - you certainly looked after that Astra, that's amazing to get 210k miles out of it. I had a couple of the GTE versions back in the 90's (showing my age!)! Had great fun with those!

It hit 50mpg as I got to work this morning and that was still rising, as was the range on the tank :)

And darn it goes, cannot argue with the power :)

A few more photos from today, MPG was over 50 after the journey to work and back - I have no idea where it will end up, but so far a full tank of petrol looks to see in excess of 400 miles for my work-and-back run. It also made me have a proper out loud laugh after overtaking a few cars this morning, well impressed :)

Those do look like the pre facelift headlights As they haven't got the new horizontal chrome strip in them
