Anybody got any info on the composition media generation 2?

Post by phileep »

Hi, I've just bought a new Polo Blue GT and I'm wanting to add my amp and sub to it.
The door speakers sound great so I'm not going to bother putting mine back in.

Does anybody know if the connector for the RCD510 will be the same?

I just need the line out.

Thanks in advance. Phil

Got a BlueGT on the way myself and planning the same, dug this up on the a golf froum:

Seems you remove the CD player from the glove box to get at the speaker lines rather than the screen itself. If you try this can you get some photos so I can plan what I am going to do when mine comes? Also, are you running any wires to the boot? If so how hard was the trim to remove?

Pretty much any flat bit of metal does the job with those release things, just be careful as it easy to mark the plastic.

Intrested to know how you run the wires, was going to use the door sills myself, but unsure how hard they are to get off, or if you could just push a wire under them.

Yea, I don't want to scratch anything. I'm going to wait till my tools arrive, might be a while as there coming from China :\

I'm not sure where to run them. My old Polo i ran down door sills, i guess it'll be same (I hope)

Here's what I've discovered so far.

Can't fully get the infotainment unit out properly, the cables in the back of it are stopping it coming out and i can't get in to see what goes where before unplugging it :(

First the headunot does not need to come out. All sounds ect is handeld by the cd box.

Second what you have there is a quad lock. To disconnect it from the cd box you need to lift the lever that is attached to it.

It's built into the connector. You can see the lever in this pic

Think I'm going to give up with this.

Just got my blueGT. See no reason for a sub, the door speakers are really good!
