mirror link on new polo
Re: mirror link on new polo
That's me scuppered then. Ah well, pleased I didn't pay for the option.
On another note should album artwork display on the screen? I just get the default regardless of the source.
Many thanks.

Re: mirror link on new polo
Picked mine up this week and needless to say no MirrorLink activated.
Dealer's own senior technician couldn't ascertain what's required to activate it and there's precious little in the manual about it either.
As dealership wrongly ordered my car, I'm getting another one in March next year and have decided to ditch the Mirrorlink and fork out for the factory sat-nav instead.

How long was you waiting for your current one to come, have they offered any kind of discount as compensation?

They forgot to add Xenon's when they placed the order on VW.CrypticG wrote:They ordered your car wrong? Wow - what happened?JohnNW wrote:Picked mine up this week and needless to say no MirrorLink activated.

I waited about 15 weeks, I think, but I get to use the current one until the new one arrives so I have a 64 plate now and will have a 15 plate in three months time

Re: mirror link on new polo
Ohh not too bad then, obviously not great that, that happened. But like you said - two new cars in 6 months haha lol! Just a quick question - as you have placed the order again, did they give you an option to order LED headlights rather than Xenons?
Re: mirror link on new polo
No, LED's are standard on the SEL and option on the SE, but not on GT according to latest price list (03.11.14).CrypticG wrote:Ohh not too bad then, obviously not great that, that happened. Re: mirror link on new polo
Hmm, I wouldn't give VW NZ too much credit for ensuring the brochure is accurate. I just bought a new Cross Polo in NZ 2 wks ago and Mirror Link is not enabled nor is it listed as a current option. The salesman didn't even mention it.Doc_House wrote:It can be activated after purchase with part number 5G0 054 830

That said, I hope they do get it working as it just increases our smart phone options.

Part number also listed on VW Spain, https://store.volkswagen.es/VAE/ACCESOR ... irror-link# and VW France as Yet VW UK hasn't confirmed it but dealer reckons a matter of weeks and it'll be added.

Re: mirror link on new polo
Collected it today from VW its a card document with three serial numbers that have to be manually inputted in to the BCM via VCDS :s going into VW on Monday to have it sorted. It's a unique code and only works on the vehicle it's issued to as well.
Re: mirror link on new polo
Amazon are now selling the activation document. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Volkswagen-5G0- ... B00Q6CH82E
Sigh, I just talked to my VW parts department and he told me I was talking rubbish, Mirrorkink is not something VW do. Do I need a dealer to activate it or can I do it myself?

Re: mirror link on new polo
Only registered to give some feedback on MirrorLink with a Polo.
I just purchased a Pre-registered Polo 5DR 1.2TSI SE from main dealer with RRP for the spec at £16,300. Still had white protective plastic on it and only 7 mile and managed to get it for effectively £12,500 + 3 years free servicing.
So it came with the Gen2 NAV system but MirrorLink was showing the "Need password, get from dealer" message.
After lots of calls between me, dealer, VW, the feedback was that the early build of the new Polo had issues so they took off/refunded the option and that even though it should be unlockable with activation code it likely won't work due to USB issue (this was 1 Oct registered then stored for 3 months until they could sell).
Being in IT I couldn't understand the USB issue concern seeing as it reads USB sticks OK, so I asked if I could try the unlock code at my own risk. They came back and said they would do it at that if it didn't work correctly I didn't have to pay for it, so excellent customer service.
The part needed was the Activation Document 5G0054830 which had to be done at the dealer. Cost of Activation Document £180 inc VAT then ~ £59 labour so total cost ~£239.
Took to dealer and a couple of hours later I had MirrorLink without acticvation message asking to connect USB device.
I have a Galaxy Note 4 which is MirrorLink enabled and downloaded to VW MirrorLink Apps to test plus miRoamer which is MirrorLink.
It connected and showed me the 4 MirrorLink apps and allowed me to use them, but I didn't get Mirroring of the phone screen when stood with handbreak up. Only the MirrorLink apps show. Worse, it also disabled BT when MirroLink connected so couldn't stream my Spotify Music.
The VW apps are OK but not worth paying for the £239 unlock so did pay as it obviously worked but not as I'd hoped. In the Note 4 settings there is a MirrorLink menu and it shows the authenticated MirrorLink apps I'd installed. I was beginning to think VW had locked out non-driving apps only allowing MirrorLink Authorised apps to ru.
I then decided to connect a Sony Z3 which I hadn't realised is also MirrorLink enabled and !POW! The full Android display was Mirrored and I seemed to be able to use all the apps. Could get Spotify working via the car touch screen but not the steering wheel keys. Need to do some more testing with the Z3 now and will report back more. Looks like the Note 4 only currently allows use of Authorised apps.

£218
Doesn't it just display your iPhone screen on the main headunit display?
