Called in to the dealer today and the good news is my GTI is on a boat, the City of Rotterdam.

The bad news is it is heading for Tangier and wont be back in the UK for another two weeks.

Then about another week to get it over to NI so looks like the end of July before I see it  :x

Very easy to stall the car in 2nd I've noticed and if you were going slowly before going into the incline then this might have happened. Otherwise it could be the same thing was spoken about recently whereby the engine feels like it's about to cut out, which I thought was due to RON98 possibly pre-igniting when the engine was warm at slow speed and just being put under load. In you case sounds as if it did cut out. Mine hasn't done this since I went back to RON95 fuel

If it's not either of these two things then I don't know. Hope it doesn't do it again!

Ok thx m8, ur theory does sound right. I've got half a tank of 98RON in so I'll use that up and fill from now on with 95. Cheers for ur input my friend

Carnet app connect lets you use google maps for navigation on an android phone and apple maps on an iPhone but other apps like tomtom don't work

Or VW or another make lol. Sorry I'm just a bit negative at min towards the brand, few issues with mine that I have no time to get sorted at min, stalling prob and loads of interior rattles. Don't wanna put u off as loads on here are very happy, but the build quality I thought I was buying into isn't what I'd hoped. Cracker of a car just let down in my own experience by these faults

Definitely go for a 3 door
For me it just looks better
Also get the convenience pack and the parking sensors
I would also go for the parabolica alloys even though they are a nightmare to clean they look the dogs b****x imho

hi guys. i currently own the 1l se design polo and im looking to upgrade to the gti soon.
went out for a test drive today and it is a monster, really looking forward to getting it, only issue i have is the sports button. is it really worth it im not so sure, the model i test drove today didnt have it and it felt amazing really firm and held the road brilliantly so not sure whether its actually worth it.

what are your thoughts those of you who selected that option

cheers

I have the dsg automatic with no sport button
If you pull down on drive it throws you into sport mode though and you can definitely feel the difference in throttle response etc
Can't comment on manual but with auto there is no need for the sport button

Andy shame you're not happy given you waited so long for yours. Mine doesn't seem to have the troubles you have had so far but I am not 100% sure about the handling which has seriously got me thinking about going for an ST which was my first choice before it got knocked on the head by my better half! I am three quarters of the way for going for another test drive. Am I mad?! I would be very grateful for any ex ST drivers views as to whether in their opinion there is much different to warrant a change. I appreciate your views over and above those in the motoring press!

I have the Sports Performance pack and the main reasons I specced it on my car were;
- it wasn't expensive for what it is.
- it could help come resale time.
- I liked the idea of being able to alter the firmness of the suspension to suit the driving conditions.

I've read in various reviews that compared to cars without the Sports Performance pack, the 'normal' (default) setting is a little less firm and the 'sport' setting more firm than the standard suspension set up. Of the features you get with the Sports Performance pack (weightier steering, firmer suspension and 'enhanced' engine noise), I quite like the weightier steering, can take or leave the increased engine noise. I find the firmer suspension a little too firm for my liking on poorer road surfaces, making the car quite bouncy at times, although this could be an age thing, as I'm quite a mature driver. There'll be other owners with this option that'll have a different view. I remember another member on this forum saying that the 'sport' setting on the Polo was less harsh and more compliant the Fiesta ST suspension.

Yeah think I waited so long it makes it more disappointing. I'll give dealer chance to fix the faults ie the engine cut outs, missing type thing and the rattles, of which I have 5 lol, passenger door buzz, centre area around temp controls creaks like a good un, odd tapping noise instrument binnacle, vent by A pillar buzz and the B pillar seat belt height adjuster vibrates and buzzes on poor surfaces. I love the power, handling quite good, and ride decent but seriously annoyed by the faults. I regret trading in my 2012 Fiesta zetecs s as was perfect with no faults, but fancied an upgrade. Hindsite an all that. How long u had yours, I'd chop it in if I can't get faults fixed on mine but the depreciation hit will b awful I'd imagine
