256mm rear brake upgrade Polo 6r GTI Mex HELP!!

Post by Robingti »

Hello mates, my name is Roberto I would like to share with you my rear brake upgrade

I have been doing some research and finally put together all the stuff needed to do the upgrade:

Discs
Calipers and carriers
Pads
Spash shields

I will share the part numbers in a while, I've already done the conversion but I have some concern about the torque settings of this elements:

Image

Does somebody know the torque setting for those 4 bolts holding the splash plate to the axle?? and also the torque for the 12 point nut to hold the hub into the stub axle?

I will make a step by step guide as soon as I finish.

Thanks in advance

Roberto

From my workshop manual for a 6R Polo -
splash/stone guards 12Nm
hub nut first stage 70Nm second stage angle-tighten a further 30degrees.

Thanks RUM4MO anyway are you sure about 12Nm? Those bolts holds the rear stub axle to the beam and in between there is the splash guard.

I've read about 70 Nm on the 12 point nut, but 12Nm seems too little torque for those 4 hex bolts.

I don't want a wheel to fall apart from the car

I agree that makes that value I quoted to be far too low!

Stub Axle/Bearing hub bolts (only use once) Stage 1 = 30Nm Stage 2 = Angle-tighten a further 90 degrees

I think that that lower torque figure has been carried over from the front stone/spray shield fixing!
